Amazing Spider-Man #36 Black Cover 911 Special 1st Print

Was an amazing read and am glad that I picked it up when it came out; we all know how this horrible tragedy afftected us and how it brought us as people together as well and its nice to see that as far as the hero community as well. :)

How to Cheat in Maya 2010: Tools and Techniques for the Maya Animator

Customer review from the Amazon Vineā„¢ Program (What's this?)This is one of the best Maya books I've seen. The techniques shown by Eric Luhta are not really "cheating". They're just a better way to work-- battle-tested techniques that will save you time and frustration. You could call it cheating if you want, but I'd call it "working smarter". 3D animation is inherently complex and anything that can make your life easier is worth the time and effort in learning. This is exactly what Luhta does. He dives right with the basics and builds on those foundations progressively. The first chapter is about workflow and how to set up your projects and workspace more efficiently. There is a wealth of knowledge here. Surely things that would take years to learn through experience and trial and error. Luhta distills it all into 300 pages of easy to understand tutorials and lessons. Like all good tutorial books, each page is filled with numerous and detailed screen captures illustrating the menu options involved and the intermediate steps between point A and point B. Where appropriate, the images are labeled with circles, arrows, and text in bold red letters for added clarity. Luhta covers a lot. He not only teaches you the mechanics, he also tries to teach you the art by applying polish and personality to your animations. He includes several chapters on making your animations more expressive and appealing. There's a chapter on faces, one on brows, eyes, lip-sync, etc.…

Spider-Man: The Complete Clone Saga Epic, Book 1

I remember when this story arc first saw print. As a whole, the Clone Saga is a deep psychological thriller. This is not for the faint of heart; it's extremely emotional at times. I agree with others that it went on a little too long before it finally ended, but it's still a good storyline. This paperback reprints some of the early crossover issues. The Double 1-4, and The Lost Years #0: The Parker Years 1-3. This is the birth of the clone and is a good opening for the book. Next is The Lost Years #1-3. This should have been saved and published in the upcoming Complete Ben Reilly epic portions of the reprints. I won't spoil the details in this review. The storyline reveals the answers of the Lost Years concerning Ben and Kaine which come back to haunt everyone over the course of the Complete Clone Saga epic Books 1-5. I suggest skipping over this section until after you've read through Book 5 to not blow the mystery. After this is a page telling what Peter and everyone else in New York are up to. There are also key page reprtints from what was known as the "Mystery Man" storyline and the dark "Shrieking" storyline in Amazing. Key plotpoints concerning Mary Jane begin in these pages. These set up pretty well Peter and Ben's meeting at the beginning of... Power and Responsibility 1-4. Peter and Ben, face to face after 5 years, about 20 in real world time. They're not exactly best friends at this point. The Exile Returns 1-4. Ben takes on Venom, and several key…

Storyboards: Motion In Art, Third Edition

I thought Mark's second edition storyboard book was a great resource for every aspect of the storyboarding business, but the third edition is even more complete at 400+ pages and has hundreds of storyboard examples. The examples are instructional as well as an opportunity to appreciate really great art from numerous talented artists. Plus in the 3rd edition there is lots of instruction on how to draw and color storyboards. No other storyboard book comes close to what this book offers.

Visual Storytelling: The Art and Technique

This book is unfortunately very misleading in its content - Aimed as a multi format guide, the book rarely strays away from comic book technique. For filmmakers/animators, this book offers little beyond rudimentary film theory and skills. Plus the majority of the example material is very sub-standard. Avoid this one.

Management (Available Titles Coursemate)

Griffin's text is well written and easy to follow. It is extremely thorough--that is, he provides details and examples that help exemplify the material. Many of my classes require poorly written textbooks that are unclear or jump all over the place, but Griffin's text is effectivly organized. Although it's expensive, as most are today, this is by far one of the best textbooks I've owned. If your professor doesn't explain things thoroughly, you'll probably still learn all you need to learn about management essentials through this text.

Marvel Encyclopedia Volume 2: X-Men HC

I REALLY do feel that this a book for any xmen fan simply because it lets you know just about everything anybody would want to know about the xmen. there are full character bios that tell about the way they came into the x-universe. there are also extensive information about all the different teams and also all the enemies that the xmen and their team branches fight. there are nifty little guides that tell where each person lies with the regards to energy projection and intelligence etc. it also lists many obscure characters that have graced the pages and any reader will also be reminded of characters they may have forgotten about. i highly recommend this encyclopedia for anyone wishing to have a better knowledge about what makes up one of the greatest comic book universes ever conceived.

Spider-Man 2099, Vol. 1

Of course nothing, but nothing, tops the original Spider-Man. But Spidey 2099 is still pretty kick-arse. Marvel Comics' 2099 imprint didn't last all that long, really (off and running in 1992 with the first issue of SPIDER-MAN 2099, kaput in 1998 with the one-shot 2099: MANIFEST DESTINY). But while it was around Marvel 2099 provided interesting stories based on familiar Marvel heroes but in a shared universe set in a future gone wrong. And SPIDER-MAN 2099 was clearly Marvel 2099's flagship title. With the talents of Peter David, Rick Leonardi, and the legendary Al Williamson onboard, this comic book was a terrific read and consistently proved to be the most popular in the 2099 line. The lowdown: A genetic imprinting experiment loused up by sabotage and an unexpected influx of spider DNA. Sudden super-strength and tremendous agility. Wicked sharp, retractable talons now growing out of fingertips and toes, and forearm spinnerets which shoot out organic webbing. And fangs. An old costume dusted off from a long ago Mexican Day of the Dead festival. And the startling realization of what an utter condescending, know-it-all git a guy's been all his life. In the year 2099 half-Mexican, half-Irish genetic engineer Miguel O'Hara becomes Spider-Man. In the How Else Is He Different? Department, note that Miguel doesn't have Peter's danger warning spider-sense or adhesivity. Instead Miguel would apply his talons in scaling various types of surfaces. Also, Miguel's mother is alive, even if…

The Uncanny X-Men #266: Gambit (First Appearance of Gambit)

Very happy with condition and arrival of book. Didn't feel ripped off at all. A great addition to my collection:-)

The Big Questions: A Short Introduction to Philosophy

This is a perfect primer for understanding philosphy: Both fundamentally and practically. Being in its 8th edition, that is testimony to its enduring quality and contribution to the education of philosophy student. The unfortunate flip side to this is that it still commands a high price due to the gouging of college students that have to buy the book.

Spider-Man: Venom Returns (Marvel comics)

This book is great, it contains the origin of Carnage, the supposed death of the symbiote and a whole mess of abilities that you never new the symbiote posessed!

Spider-Man Carnage (Marvel Comics)

I have the orignals of this story and would tell any fan outthere that this book is well worth the price. If you likeSpider-man, and/or Venom this is an excellent book.

Untold Tales of Spider-Man

This edition features the first of what will be a long list of stories written by John S. Drew. Watch for his name in the future. He writes as though he's been writing the characters of Aunt May and Peter Parker all his life! His story is called "Moving Day," and it is the best in the collection.

Crisis Intervention Strategies

As an unemployed full time student I was delighted to receive the book in a timely manner and far below the cost at the college.

Essential Spider-Man Vol. 1

After having read this volume (which collects Amazing Fantasy #15, Amazing Spiderman #1-20 and Amazing Spiderman Annual #1) the conclussion I must draw is that this is probably the best choice for someone who wants to get old Spidey stories sheer for the fun of reading them. Collectors and people who want their stuff to look good on their shelf might rather choose for the more expensive Marvel Masterwork volumes (which are more than twice the cost per volume, very hard to get, collect half the stories that are collected in here per volume, but are hardcover and in color), but if you're solely getting a collection to read these issues THIS is your best choice I think. Given, the art is in black-and-white but it's solid and detailed enough for that not to be a problem (although I'll be the first one to admit it doesn't work that way with every artist). The issues collected in here are ALL written by Stan Lee and drawn by Steve Ditko. Although some of the stories are, when compared to many stories written since then, maybe a little old-fashioned, it's good to see there are a lot of issues in here which are surprisingly good compared to a lot of other Marvels that were published at that time (of which a lot would be considered very corny today). I think some of them would even be considered 'reasonably good' if they were printed today. The art by Ditko is also very solid (you can really see how detailed he worked in black-and-white) although in all honesty his successor, John Romita…
